Abdolmalek Rigi is the leader of Jundallah, a Sunni insurgent organization based in Southeastern Iran.
The group started under the name of Jundallah and later renamed itself as the People's Resistance Movement of Iran.
Jundallah claims to be fighting for the rights of the Balochs and Sunni Muslims in Iran.
In 2005 Jundallah ambushed a car carrying Irans president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

There are conflicting accounts of how and where Rigi was seized.
According to one official, Rigi's plane was forced to land by Iranian aircraft while on a flight from Dubai to Kyrgyzstan.
But other accounts said he had been arrested inside Iran or Pakistan.
There are even reports that Rigi was handed over by the Pakistan authorities. (less)
